IS GOD IN THE SKY OR ON EARTH
Let
me begin by asking you: where can you find electromagnetic waves, or energy,
gravity, consciousness? You might answer they may be found everywhere in our
universe simply because you cannot localize them, right? Well, as all these are
pervading and elusive within our universe, God claimed he created them. And if
you cannot localize his creation, how could you localize the creator? This
universe wasn’t eternal as it had a beginning and will one day end. You may
well ask then where was God before he created the universe and where would he
be when it is extinct? Logically you know you cannot localize God either on the
earth or in heaven. It is fallacy for people to be saying God is in the sky by
simply sighting the verse
Q7:54
“Your Guardian lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six
days, and is firmly established on the throne”
God
throne is not a physical throne up there somewhere in the sky but alluding to
his power to control all creation. God cannot be in a throne outside the
universe he created, as that will allude he isn’t in the universe. He is all
pervading, within and without the universe as this verse
Q50:16
“It is we who created man and we know what dark suggestions his soul makes to
him, for we are nearer to him than his jugular vein”
The
jugular vein is the artery that sustain the supply of blood from the heart to
the brain and a second blockage of the passage could lead to death, thus it is
the lifeline of man and God claims he is closer to us than the jugular. Is that
physical? No, as I pointed earlier even created beings can be pervading
(everywhere) let alone God. God is there before he created the universe as he
told us in
21:30
“Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together
(as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder?”
Until
the second half of the last century no one knew exactly (scientifically) how
our universe began. Today even though we knew about the big bang, the science
(at the moment) forbid us from knowing how the singularity that gave birth to
our universe came about and 1400 years ago he supplied the answer
Quran
41:11 “Moreover He comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as)
smoke: He said to it and to the earth: "Come ye together, willingly or
unwillingly." They said: "We do come (together), in willing
obedience.”
The
singularity that resulted into the big bang was a remnant of an earlier
universe which force of gravity contracted as alluded by the above verse. And
our present universe awaits a similar fate of a big crunch, which our present
science is grappling to confirm whether we have an open, closed or flat
universe which will determine it's ultimate face.
God
as creator of the universe exists above and within our universe. Above because
he is a non physical being and within as the fountain of life, mind, soul,
consciousness…whatever you feel like calling it. Life and consciousness
originates from God as he told us in
Quran
15:28–29 “Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man,
from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape "When I have fashioned him
(in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in
obeisance unto him."
Adam,
representing all created life on our planet was able to live only after the
breathing of God spirit on matter. Lo! and Behold! life was seeded to our
planet. All efforts to replicate this devine intervention by scientist or
magicians have proved futile and SHALL remain so. But our Atheist friends, as
blind as they are, will invoke blind chance and shamelessly hide behind
Neo-darwinism to appropriate all God's attribute to blind nature. Well, God has
challenged them for 1400 years in
Quran
22:73 “O men! Here is a parable set forth! listen to it! Those on whom, besides
Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the
purpose!
And the day anyone is
able to take up this challenge and create a living creature like the fly, I
will surely join the Atheist bandwagon and denounce God.
