IS ATHEISM A RELIGION?

LEGALLY: Atheism is a belief…a Religion. As painful as it may seem to all the Atheist out there, the Supreme Court of that great land, the land of rising Atheism…America, defined it so. Atheism is awarded all the vital protections and laws as any other religion. Therefore the more angrily an Atheist argues or denies other religious views the more he or she is demonstrating genuine zealousness of that religion, making the angry Atheist a religious zealot. It is ironically a religion that both knows of God’s existence and location, well enough to run from it. For analogy, if someone drops a live hand grenade in a crowd, those who does not know what it is will ignore it like any other tumbling thing on the ground. But for those who knew about a live hand grenade will run like hell away from the place

LOGICALLY: Atheism is a belief that God doesn't exist, an opposite of theism that God do exist. Neither Theism or Atheism can scientifically prove itself or disprove the other. Belief is outside the realm of science. Science is independent of both theism and atheism, though believers in both can do science. None is identified as or synonymous with science. There are rational and irrational elements from both camps. Despite atheists reductionist approach, they turn to metaphysics for the nagging why's and when's not the science they say is the be-all and end-all. Their lives isn't lived scientifically but largely metaphysically like the rest of us. Whether they believe it or not, their belief is just that... a belief. It can never be called science. If you fight a thing you acknowledges it existence. If you deny a being that others believe in, demonstrates your lack of personal experience, not true knowledge of its nature or existence, in effect you are now engaged in a belief, nothing more. Atheism is a religion of belief not disbelief.

HISTORICALLY

After the publication of Darwin’s “On the origins of species” in the 1850’s, which naturally challenged the existing conventional Natural Theology, a band of vociferous contenders for the supremacy of science gathered together under the leadership of Darwin’s leading supporter - T. H. Huxley- and created the X-Club. Eight out of nine of the members were all fellows of the Royal Society and their chief aim was, in its simplest form, to replace conventional religion by a world view that involves nature and nature only. Their modus operandi was, first, to discredit the established Church. In attacking the church “Mother nature” was an indispensable ally, she was, in short, a substitute for God. Therefore whatever was previously the role of God is now appropriated to “Nature”. A whole new literature emerged and a new periodical for specialist science, called appropriately “Nature” was established. The second phase of their strategy wasn’t so much to attack the church as to imitate it. Thus new congregations were formed and lay sermons encouraged through publications of papers. Science had become a new religion with its popularizers as emerging prophets. The attendant atheistic overtones in the way science is carried out today will surely have made Huxley and co. grin in their graves; as sacrilization of science and secularization of society has been accomplished.
